Who Me?

I've added this section of the page for all of those of you interested in learning a little more about me (Richard Perrin) and my interest in Macross and Anime in general. I'm sure that got rid of most of you... but for those of you who've got way too much free time on their hands here goes:

[By the way the picture on the left looks absolutely nothing like me, simply because I decided against including a picture of myself in the name of common decency :) ]
Why Macross?

I first got into Anime through a friend, whose brother already had a large Anime collection. I remember being impressed straight away, cartoons that dealt with adult situations and story lines, it was so much more than your usual Disney flick. So over the next year or so, I tried to watch every Anime movie/series I got the chance to, which included Macross II and Macross Plus and the first four episodes of Macross 7. And over time as I watched more and more, beginning to build up my own collection, I began to get more discerning and some of the Anime I had once enjoyed now didn't seem so impressive compared to others I had seen, and this has continued until today. However over all this time Macross has always held my interest, unlike other series it still seemed exciting and fresh, the emotional music still resonated in my head, and the exciting story lines still had me on the edge of my seat. So recently when I finally got the chance to see the original Macross series (as Robotech), Macross: Do You Remember Love? the movie, and much more of Macross 7 my interest in Macross has been rekindled...

Why Macross Plus?

Although I really enjoy all of the different Macross series, Macross Plus has always stood out as my favourite. The strange cross-cultural mixed vocal music of Sharon Apple really hit an emotional note with me. Over only four volumes, the series managed to cover such a huge fascinating story. The three characters mixed in the mysterious love triangle, seemed so real. And the quality of animation was well above what I had come to expect from most Anime.
